"I have been doing CrossFit since 2012 and have never done a diet of any kind and so when this one came up this year the fact that it was performance based caught my attention. At the beginning of this year I weighed 195 pounds. I have been training competitively for the past two years and my thought was that being stronger in Crossfit would make me better and that any sugar or bad food that I ate would be burned off during workouts. I’m a carpenter contractor so I typically eat on a schedule but it’s not always planned or prepared and sometimes I’m running out to the grocery store or to the closest restaurant to get lunch. My problem was always overeating, so when this challenge came about one thing I had to get used to was the portion sizes. The Open Nutrition Challenge trays consisted of three compartments, vegetables, a dense carb and protein. My body weight called for 4 trays a day and for the most part eating four times a day was normal for me but adding vegetables to every single meal was something I had to get used to. Usually, I would only eat vegetables at dinner time and dinner time would be my biggest meal, eating about 2 plates every night plus a dessert. So when this challenge started I knew it would make a difference for me. It was a way to eat healthy and most of all to perform better in CrossFit.
Week one took a while to get used to, I was feeling hungry in between trays and mentally, snacking was the hardest for me to stop but soon after week one I got in the rhythm of things and it became almost like a habit of clean eating. Immediately following week one I jumped on the scale knowing that it wasn’t going to tell the full story but I saw a 4 1/2 pound loss. In the mirror I could see my love handles starting to shed away and in CrossFit my recovery process between workouts was getting faster and faster. I was not getting soar as usual and the lactic acid build up was slowing down and my overall energy was going up and this was very encouraging. In CrossFit I saw immediate results, energy was up and recovery was good. At home I kept receiving compliment after compliment from my encouraging wife because she’s the one that saw me each and every day. Having a strong support system helps, as my wife was helping me with this and also doing it herself. I know for a fact that I would not be able to do it without her. At work, my body is now content between meals and never hungry and I feel like I’m always eating, which is nice.
At the beginning of this challenge I started off at 189 pounds and at the five-week mark I ended off at 182 pounds. The challenge was intended to be 4 1/2 weeks but I love the results so much that it’s becoming a lifestyle. The pictures tell the real story and it’s official that abs are made in the kitchen!! I’m 34 years old, a father of 3 and I’m in the best shape of my life. At this point in my life I could not be any happier. Thank you Bionic CrossFit for giving me the tools I need to succeed!"
Thanks for the honest insight Carlos. This isn't fake people. This is legit results after 4.5 weeks of eating real food and cutting out sugars and processed junk. Its not hard, but it does take discipline and hard work.
